What are the volunteering hours at Willing Hearts?

  • The soup kitchen is open for volunteering daily from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM. It operates 365 days a year

Do I need to register and book before volunteering?

  • All volunteers must register and create an account online first. Booking is only needed for volunteer groups of 5 paxs and above, and drivers volunteering for weekend deliveries. Otherwise, walk in volunteers are welcome during operating hours if you are able to commit at least 4 hours of your time.

Are there age requirements for volunteers?

  • Volunteers must be at least 5 years old. Volunteers between the age of 5 to 12 year old must be accompanied by parents, teachers or other adult. Volunteers 13 years and above may come on their own. Deliveries drivers need to have their own transport and a valid driving license.

What should I wear when volunteering?

  • Please wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable casual clothing suitable for kitchen work, and bring your own apron. This ensure safety and hygiene standard in the kitchen.

Can I volunteer as part of a group?

  • Yes, we welcome group volunteers! Group volunteers of more than 4 people are required book a slot. Volunteering groups need not to register everyone individually, a single representative can book the slots on behalf the group.

What should I do if I need to cancel my volunteer slot?

  • Cancellation of the booking slots must be carried out at least 2 weeks before the booking date. You have to login to Willing Hearts’s Portal account and go to Your Registered Future Events link and click the cancel button.

Is there training provided for volunteers?

  • Staffs and regular volunteers will guide other volunteers about the workscope and procedure for the various tasks in our centre. Posters regarding safety and hygiene matters are posted at the kitchen.

How can I verify my volunteering hours for programmes like Values in Action (VIA) ?

  • We provide documentation for volunteers who need to verify their service hours for programs like VIA. The timesheet for documenting your hours can be downloaded HERE
